Each Level.Up paver pedestal includes four components that stack together to elevate and support outdoor 2CM porcelain pavers, concrete pavers and wood tiles. When assembled, a Level.Up paver pedestal can range from 2 ¾-inches to 5 ½-inches in height and compensate for up to 2% slope.

Level.Up accessories can be added to increase height or compensate for additional ground slope. See the accessories comparison chart for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Level.Up Adjustable Paver Pedestals allow you to build elevated patio decks on the ground utilizing outdoor concrete pavers, 2CM porcelain pavers or even wood tiles. You can customize the patio deck design by using multiple Level.Up 16 Pedestal Kits together to create a larger space.

Level.Up Adjustable Paver Pedestals allow you to build and install a patio paver deck faster and easier by significantly reducing and simplifying ground preparation time. They eliminate the need to completely level the existing ground. You can build directly over existing concrete slabs or pavers without having to demo and remove old surface materials. They also allow for easy height adjustment and slope compensation (up to 8% total ground slope correction) through their telescoping feature and slope leveling accessories. The built-in Spacer Tabs also allow for the even spacing of the pavers while providing drainage. All these features combined equate to saving time, labor and money.

Stone surfaces provide a timeless, premium-looking outdoor living space. Stone requires significantly less maintenance than wood – no annual staining or sealing – and lasts longer. Natural stone and decorative pavers come in a wide variety of colors and finishes and provide a durable, long-lasting and low maintenance solution.

By not having pavers set directly on the ground, there are no issues with weed growth; you can make use of sloped or uneven ground; and you can adjust the height to be able to walk directly on to the patio deck from the house without step downs. Additionally, the raised pedestals provide drainage which prevent moisture and water from collecting and prolong the life of the pavers.

Each Level.Up 16 Pedestal Paver Kit allows you to build a 36 square foot area utilizing nine - 24 inch wide X 24 inch long pavers. You can use any size paver, however it may require additional pedestals for support. You can use as many kits as you want to build any size patio deck. ALWAYS check with local zoning laws, codes and HOA regulations prior to building.

The maximum height of the Level.Up Paver Pedestal is 12 inches, including all components and accessories. This does not include the height of the surface materials.

Yes, you can build directly over stable, existing concrete slabs or pavers. There’s no need to demolish or remove old concrete slabs or pavers. Make sure that the build site is properly prepared by checking for and repairing any large cracks or breaks in the area that could cause the pedestals to set unevenly or not have complete contact. ALWAYS reference the installation guide for complete instructions.

Yes. The ground must be well-compacted, stable, not prone to soil erosion, not have standing water and be well-draining. All grass, sod, vegetation, mulch, large rocks or debris should be removed from the area. Rake the area so that the surface has no visible, uneven depressions and cover with weed barrier to prevent unwanted growth. Any uneven areas which could make it difficult for the pedestal base to make complete contact with the ground surface should have additional dirt, pea gravel or sand added. Use a tamper to compact and even out the area. The maximum ground slope in any build area is 8%. ALWAYS reference the installation guide for complete instructions.

A perimeter containment wall is a structural containment or framing, such as a parapet, foundation wall or outside wall of a house or structure. It is necessary to provide restraint and prevent the lateral movement of the pedestals and pavers. No movement of the pavers should be allowed at the perimeter of the patio deck system greater than 3/16 of an inch. A perimeter containment wall MUST be installed on all sides, if not already in place.

Examples include, but are not limited to: the sides of a house or structure, brick or concrete masonry block, railroad ties and metal stakes, concrete curb, a wall structurally fastened together to create a solid containment. The height of the perimeter containment wall must be, at a minimum, flush with the top of the paver surface material or higher.

Level.Up Adjustable Pedestals are not for use in high wind zone areas. Before beginning any work, determine whether the paver patio deck will be installed in a high wind zone. High wind zones are usually in coastal regions, high mountainous areas, or locations susceptible to high windstorms and/or tornados. High wind zone maps are available on the International Code Council website: www. Iccsafe.org in Chapter 3 Building Planning. Always check local building codes and ordinances for wind uplift restrictions before building.

Both Level.Up pedestal systems utilize the following same components: the Adjustable Pedestal (LU), the Slope Leveler (LU-SL), and the Floating Foundation Base (LU-FFB). The only difference is that the Joist Top Attachment (LU-JTA) is part of the Joist System Kit as it bends up to attach to the wood joists of a deck substructure. The Paver Pedestal System utilizes the Spacer Tabs (LU-ST) in place of the Joist Top Attachment to hold outdoor stone or wood pavers in place.

Yes, the accessories launched for the Joist Pedestal System: Height Adjustment Couplers (LU-C1, C4), Flexible Shims (LU-B11), Slope Levelers (LU-SL) and Fixed Height Pedestals (LU-FH50) are also compatible with the Paver Pedestal System. The Spacer Tabs are used in place of the Joist Top Attachment.

While it is not mandated by code, Bison REQUIRES the use of metal Level.Up Paver Safety Backers when installing 2CM outdoor porcelain pavers. 2CM porcelain pavers are around ¾ of an inch thick versus thicker concrete pavers or wood tiles. The Safety Backers are glued to the back of the 2CM paver using polyurethane adhesive. Their purpose is to provide breakthrough protection if the paver breaks or cracks. They also provide added impact resistance and support.

No, the Level.Up Adjustable Pedestals are designed and tested for PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC, GROUND-LEVEL USE ONLY.

Level.Up Adjustable Pedestal products are designed to meet or exceed Standard 2024 International Residential Code (IRC) building practices. Before building, always check with local zoning, municipality laws, codes and HOA regulations.

Check to see if the patio surface is out of level or rocking. Look under the elevated patio and check for pedestals that are loose or not making complete contact with the ground surface. Adjust the pedestals by twisting to raise or lower height as needed to make snug contact with the ground. Additional accessories such as Height Adjustment Couplers, Flexible Shims and/or Slope Levelers may be needed if significant settling has occurred. Be sure that a Floating Foundation Base is used underneath each pedestal to reduce settling or sinking. You can adjust the pedestals with the pavers intact. However, you can easily lift the pavers to gain access to areas.

Annual maintenance of the paver patio, pedestal systems, surface materials, and perimeter containment wall is recommended and required. Periodic inspection is recommended to check for ground erosion, sinking and overall pedestal integrity/damage. Follow the surface material provider’s instructions for maintenance and cleaning.

No, the pavers do not get grouted when installed on the pedestals. The tabs on the Spacer Tabs provide even spacing and allow for water drainage.

Level.Up Accessories

WHEN LEVEL.UP PEDESTALS NEED A LITTLE MORE WHEN LEVEL.UP PEDESTALS NEED A LITTLE MORE

Level.Up accessories make height or slope adjustments to individual or multiple Level.Up paver pedestals as needed.

A Level.Up paver pedestal can range from 2 1/2-inches to 5 1/4-inches in height and compensate for a 2% slope. Level.Up paver pedestals cannot exceed 12 inches in height or 8% slope compensation, including all components and accessories and excluding surface materials.
